By that twisted logic, does that mean the Bledsoe trade prevented us from getting Andre Johnson, because if we hadn't traded Bledsoe and started him in 2002 we would have finished 2-14 and had a high enough pick to take him? Or should we blame Mo Lewis for that?
View Post

Mo Lewis should never have to buy a meal in this town.

The extra pick allowed them to make a lot of moves over several years that otherwise would have cost them a lot more on those draft days. WTF does Andre Johnson have to do with anything?

It was a joke, though he was the #3 pick in that draft, now a Pro Bowler.

I saw the Canseco-60 minutes spot. Nothing majorly new then the stuff that leaked out. He specifically said he did/injected steroids with McGwire, Giambi, Irod, Palmeiro and Juan Gonzalez. They showed one of the chapter titles and it was something like "Giambi: the biggest juicer of them all"

I think it's weird that it's all superstars mentioned. You'd think some scrub would approach him, they'd have the most to gain. I think it would actually help his credibility if he dropped the names of some lower level guys. Maybe he does in the book. I guess the other controversial thing is that he basically says if you know what you're doing, Steroids is a good thing, he doesn't say he's sorry or come out against it at all.

Note that may only interest Box Score.

Poking around comic book boards, I found out that the Sci Fi Channel was supposed to be adapting the 1980's classic Strikeforce Morituri into a miniseries called 1,000 Days, but that it has been shelved recently after languishing for a couple of years.

Tony Maz isn't the Ron Borges of baseball writers, in fact he's normally pretty good.

It was a terrible job, but I'm going to guess that his editors told him he needed to get one more piece out before he left for Florida so he threw that one together.

We've seen others do the same thing with let's just call it less "originality".

During a remote interview with Marino in the studio and Brady on a golf course somewhere shortly after the SB last year, Brady said something classy like how much he respects all that DM accomplished in his career and how he hopes to have such a stellar record when all is said and done. Marino replied, "I'd trade it all for one ring, Tommy."

The guy seems to have something resembling a clue even though many of his a** kissing mediots don't.

From what I've read, he names a lot of "scrubs" in the book, including Bret Boone, Tejada, Randy Velarde, and so on.

I've been flipping back and forth between the Pro Bowl and the Grammys and I gotta say, this year's Grammys have been outstanding. The performances are off the charts.

ESPN is making a big deal of Jim Rome returning full time. This only reminds me of how bad ESPN has become. Some guy on their radio network actually thought Iverson was a great and misunderstood pro and insinuated Shaq was some kind of fraud when compared to Iverson. If it weren't for the NFL and PTI, I wouldn't even watch ESPN. At one time, I thought it was the greatest thing to come along.

Question for the panel:

Why hasn't one of the alleged juice-heads sued and gotten an injunction to stop release of Canseco's book tomorrow?

Actually....I think he does name Velarde, whose butt was firmly planted on my bench in fantasy league a few years back the day he hit for the cycle. I'm glad that accomplishment is now tainted.

Because nothing tonight was routine. The magnitude of every action in that park (where I saw my first Red Sox game, an 11-2 drubbing on July 5th 2003, with the man I plan to spend my life with) is amplified a thousandfold.

Am I the only one who's a little red-faced over the fact that we here at BSMW got beaten to the punch on this whole Internet suicide pact thing?

We used to have pride here. We used to push each other. We're nothing but fat cats now.

If for one year you could only have access to one tv channel, what would it be? I think it might be ESPNews for the constant score updates.

Spare me the "vine", I'd like to pop him in his "grill". I despise Rome and his schtick.

LL, good point. Dan certainly didn't handle that situation well. During damage control efforts the next day, Boomer said he thought DM was a bit taken by surprise by the comment, and misinterpreted his intent.....but DM's angry, defensive response was revealing. I'd forgotton about that incident.

Within two years Jim Rome will be filling in for the hungover and nowhere to be found Mike Adams who's filling in for Meterparel.

Adams, ever the go-getter, had Bill Lee as a guest today for the 1,248 consecutive show.

It might be HBO in a year when they actually produce a season of the shows I like.

Otherwise, I guess NESN. Please tell me I can go to a friend's house for the Pats.
