I don't listen to Stern, but is he on this week? Any comments from Artie after last night's Hindenburg performance with Buck?

Simmons has decided that Kobe reminds him of Ione Skye's character in Say Anything. Seriously.

Recognizing odds are impacted by the betting public (or, at this early stage, by a best guess on a betting public) but I think Carolina may actually be better positioned today to make a run at the Cup than the B's.

If I had to watch Rubio, Barbosa, and Amare you can go ahead and put one in my head. Maybe they can bring in Nash to come off the bench.

I don't know if I'd go that far but the betting value is surely there. Can't go wrong with Cam Ward in net.

One never knows obviously, but I disagree. That team gave the Bruins fits, but they don't have a whole lot of offense. Lot of pluggers and grinders than can do well in the postseason, but at some point you have to be able to create offense - which they can't really do outside of Staal and Whitney.

Howard says he loved it, but not very convincingly.

He's never said one bad thing about Artie, ever. Even when it's evident from e-mails and calls to the show that he's annoying the shiit out of everyone else.

I agree with you and FCM. These moves seem wayy too ambitious. I think the celts should discuss moving Ray Allen (stress discuss and not give him away for a bag of balls and UPPPPSIDE) and figure out who to take with the MLE. Moving Perkins and Rondo is foolish since they are proven commodities with this team.

For the "who cares" segment - We took the Limoliner bus from NYC to Boston yesterday. It passed
both Yankee stadium and Fenway without stopping. (sort of weird),

I heard Wyc's appearance with Dale and Holley yesterday.

He definitely enjoys being smug and passing out little insider tidbits, like that "there's a way that they could offer a max contract next summer" referencing letting Ray play out his current deal, etc. It seemed, though, a little like him trying to create a position for the Celtics. Meaning, if they are in talks about making a trade, their leverage might be that "hey, we don't need to trade Ray, we could keep his expiring" or "If you get Ray, you're getting a full max slot next summer, so we need good value in return"

I'm not a big Wyc fan, but even I don't think he's stupid enough to go on the air and say their plan is to sit tight with their current roster in hopes of getting a max slot next year.

I'm partial to the "I don't want to buy, sell or process anything" rant. Nothing more annoying coming out of high school/college than the "so what are you going to do now?" inquisition.

Gerry thinks the Globe is just making up these bidders to drum up interest in a sale. Wouldn’t the bidders have come forward and refuted the story by now? Sounds good though.

Greg Lewis...early approve.

Quote

For New England fans wondering ‘Who is Greg Lewis?’ what would you tell them?

I’m just a run-of-the-mill guy who is coming in and trying to work hard and compete for an opportunity to be on this team and [earn] a roster spot and go out and make plays.”

I'm concerned that he doesn't have a real receiver make-up with that attitude.

Quote

What do you think this offense is capable of, specifically in the passing game?

Right now, we’re not capable of anything. We haven’t come together as a whole unit. We’re just on Day 8 or 9. We have a lot to improve on. We’re building each day.”

On the heels of Kilgore's article today about the Sox atrocious defense - is there any thought perhaps to flipping Youkilis and Lowell? I assume the mobility issues translate to 1B as well, but perhaps not as much of a factor as they are at 3B?

Although I suppose if he tried to stretch for a throw at 1B his plastic hip might shoot out into the loge somewhere.

I turned it off five minutes into the Brett Farve interview. How did someone come to the conclusion that Joe Buck has what it takes to be a talk show host?

This is the same network that, having seen seasons of Later with Bob Costas, gave him a talk show.

I think it is inevitable that by this time next week Bruce Allen Media will be completing its acquisition of the Globe.

Bruce has been sounding out key players in the future organization:

RR Safety - News
NASCL - Subscriptions and Bundling
Ironhead - Collections and animal rights stories
Nopointe - Commentary and Editorial Cartoons

Within the Sports Department, there will be co-editors:

Scott @PD will oversee Nick Cafardo and Mike Reiss while
Patrick Pass will be the general football editor
Lefty will oversee Kevin Paul Dupont while
Mr. Magoo will be the general Hockey editor
Suzy will oversee all things baseball, to include most writers and the sport in general
Larry Legend will oversee basketball and have Bob Ryan report directly to him
Fred West Lynn will have sole responsibility over Dan Shaughnessy
Arquimedez Pozo will resurrect the "sports media" column
and

SJH will provide hands-on direction to Amalie Benjamin.

I think it wouldn't work for just the reason you cite: Lowell's not going to be able to do the stretching necessary at 1B without injuring himself.

In '04 the Sox moved aggressively to shore up the defense at SS when it became clear that Nomar couldn't play there any more. I assume they'd be willing to do the same this year, either by plugging Lowrie in there and assuming he'll be an upgrade, or by trading for a Jack Wilson superior defender type and letting Lowrie play more 3rd base. Either way the defensive inefficiencies on the left side of the infield cannot continue indefinitely.

Lowell should be a DH at this point in his career. One more year to go on that contract, sigh.

I don't follow Artie Lange very much, if at all. But, (as someone posted toward the end of last night's thread) he was awesome in making Joe Buck crawl within his own skin during that disastrous Joe Buck show thing last night on HBO. There's a grainy link posted in last night's thread, but here's a story from USA today outlining it:
