Are Mustard and Johnson booted or is it just the end of the show for the year becasue Mustard goes back to teaching now that school start? I just turned station on and there's a bunch of mental cases calling and saying godbye and how their show is the best and they will be missed.

I wish announcers would call Beamer Ball by it's real name, a pitiful offense

The baseball show gets moved from Sunday to Saturday to make way for the football show.

Quote

WEEI 850 AM’s middlin’ Saturday morning duo of Larry Johnson and Craig Mustard did their last show together at the station this morning. According to several Shots emailers and the ever-reliable BSMW message board, the duo made the announcement during today’s show.

A text message to a station spokesman early Saturday afternoon was not immediately returned. It’s unclear whether either Mustard or Johnson will still appear on the station in any capacity (Johnson is, sadly, a regular fill-in on other ‘EEI shows).

However, Shots is being told to expect a WEEI.com-tied-in show to debut next Saturday in the 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. slot, likely featuring WEEI.com’s editorial overlord, Rob Bradford and likely involving some type of web element to help promote the fledgling site.

The move - no matter who replaces the Musty One and The Tracer - is an immediate win-win for Entercom. They get a new voice (or voices) on Saturday mornings to launch NFL and Pennant Drive seasons AND they will be able to use what amounts to a weekly, four-hour infomercial for the original content being generated by Bradford’s troops at the dot-com.

Too bad, your Eagles don't have a offense. With the way their d will be this year, if they had any offense in the ACC they would be contending with Clemson

I went to run errands this morning and the first thing I heard was the Teacher and the Tracer talking about how great Eddie was to them. It was about 5 minutes before I realized Eddie wasn't dead, their show was.

At one point, Mustard said something to the effect of, "I don't know how, but we'll be back in some capacity," to which LJ promptly added, "I don't know if we'll be back at all." Don't stop believin', Craig.

Then Frank from Gloucester called in and I had to go to a CD.

LJ and Mustard had that show for 13 years?!? Good grief.

I hope Bob in NH is OK; anyone check in on him? :P

:(

About 5 or so years ago, I was at a business lunch in stoneham (some italian place near the center on 28). Acouple tables over KK was eating lunch with his wife. We saw him and were talking softly about the good ole days of the Sanmartino era. KK wife came over and said would you like an autograph? We said sure. She went back to the table pulled out a couple 5x7 pic cards and he signed away. I kind of felt like I was 10 years old.

Eckstein may be on his way back to the Angels as a backup from the rumors I've read.

I was terrified the Sox might be interested in acquiring him, but not sure the Jays would trade in the division and the Sox apparently like John McDonald better anyway.

If the Sox did pick up Eckstein, they run into a dilema; buy another stepstool for being able to see into the bathroom mirror or have him share Pedroia's.

Ummm... Bryant? Even the late Scott Benson didn't see that one coming in his post from today despite using the proper skewed view of things to nail many of the cuts.

I liked watching the Bowden kid pitch tonight. Expectedly scared out of his tits, and sweating like Larry Johnson in late August on the unemployment line. I was shocked he got through the ChiSox lineup with basically a 92 fastball and some few and far between changes and curves. That's a good lineup he faced, and he did well. He looks crazy enough to be a bulldog for years to come. He sweated his butt off and I think gave himself a major facial rash by wiping his mug with that ugly red jersey.

He's probably two years away from being a solid number 2 or 3.

Sorry to hear about Yankee Talk........................NOT.....

More sorry to hear about Walter Kowalski......I'd love to have his rug as a memento.....

As bad as the Mustard & Johnson show is was, it is still a better listen than any Mike Adam's hosted show. I despise the Baseball Show when it's Shiitskull and Buckley, a late-60's/early-70's Red Sox circle jerk of epic proportions.

I am with you. The guy is absurdly talented, although we will undoubtedly be subjected to endless "he's gritty and works hard" articles now that he's emerging as a star. But the guy oozes talent despite his unconventional build. He has scary-good hand-eye coordination and one of the quickest bats in the majors.

When I saw him play in Portland back in '06 or so he looked like a man among boys in that league. He's looking the same way now.
