Gustav now a Category 3 and will probably make Category 4 over the warm Gulf waters.

My dad and his girlfriend are headed up to the game on Monday. They are not seasoned city people, and I think my dad has been to Boston about 4 times in his life.

They were going to spend some time over in the Faniul Hall area, then head over to the game.

My question for you all is they want Italian for food, where should they go?

not sure if it's still there but L'Astoria over in the North End was always good. Hard to beat most places over there.

Can't believe you're not going straight to the Phantom for this....

As Fishtale said, most any place in the north end is good. Here's a link for restaurants in that area:

North End Restaurants

Tell your Dad to take cabs. It will be easier for him to get from place to place, and make Oz really happy!

Hey PSF - St. Antony's Feast is in the North End this weekend. It's going to be a CF of epic proportions down there.

EDIT: oops, he's going on Monday? I think it ends Sunday, so he is all set. Avoid Strega and Lucca and he will be good to go.

I wonder if tomorrow Nick will mention the championship caliber baseball the Blue Jays have played since he gave them and the Yanks a shot at catching the Red Sox last Sunday?

JP's acquisition of Eckstein and the Glaus-for-Rolen (trade a younger guy that gets hurt a lot for an older guy that gets hurt more; and is now probably just plain old) particularly reek.

Eckstein may be on his way back to the Angels as a backup from the rumors I've read.

I was terrified the Sox might be interested in acquiring him, but not sure the Jays would trade in the division and the Sox apparently like John McDonald better anyway.

This one was my favorite:

Quote

BILL PAXTON spent most of his time in the bathroom with his guy friend and ordered a lot but didn't eat a thing. Nice guy, but needs to lay off the blow. Tip was about 18%

followed by this one:

Quote

The worst tipper was Marcellus Wiley of the Dallas Cowboys. Placed an order that ran over $700, and dropped me $20. It took me forever to make all the crap he ordered, and I was neglecting other customers the whole time because he ordered nonsense fruity girly drinks for himself and his whole crew. He was released the next season because he sucks.

Wiley's struck me as a d-bag ever since he insisted that people refer to him as "Dat Dude". Not surprised he's a terrible tipper.

New Hampshire v. Army on ESPN Classic next week? There's hope I'll get to see UMass v. Texas Tech on TV yet.

I don't mind Lee Corso, at least not any more. College Football Gameday is one of the better shows on ESPN, in my opinion. There's no denying that the Worldwide Leader shows more than their share of games. The announcers vary in quality, but I don't care all that much.

As for Corso, I like this picture better:

Are Mustard and Johnson booted or is it just the end of the show for the year becasue Mustard goes back to teaching now that school start? I just turned station on and there's a bunch of mental cases calling and saying godbye and how their show is the best and they will be missed.

Quote

WEEI 850 AM’s middlin’ Saturday morning duo of Larry Johnson and Craig Mustard did their last show together at the station this morning. According to several Shots emailers and the ever-reliable BSMW message board, the duo made the announcement during today’s show.

A text message to a station spokesman early Saturday afternoon was not immediately returned. It’s unclear whether either Mustard or Johnson will still appear on the station in any capacity (Johnson is, sadly, a regular fill-in on other ‘EEI shows).

However, Shots is being told to expect a WEEI.com-tied-in show to debut next Saturday in the 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. slot, likely featuring WEEI.com’s editorial overlord, Rob Bradford and likely involving some type of web element to help promote the fledgling site.

The move - no matter who replaces the Musty One and The Tracer - is an immediate win-win for Entercom. They get a new voice (or voices) on Saturday mornings to launch NFL and Pennant Drive seasons AND they will be able to use what amounts to a weekly, four-hour infomercial for the original content being generated by Bradford’s troops at the dot-com.

Too bad, your Eagles don't have a offense. With the way their d will be this year, if they had any offense in the ACC they would be contending with Clemson
